Normally, a satellite compass ™ calculates the course using on baseline between two antennas.
Fellow competitors have a heading accuracy that fluctuates by +/- 5˚ with a quick update, which means that an echo track is indistinguishable and that is confusing.
The FURUNO SCX-20's four antennas system can calculate heading information using any of the six baselines between the four antennas. The design of the SCX-20 allows you to accurately calculate heading, pitch, roll and heave information.

The SCX-20 measures the boat's forward Y-axis speed over the ground like a normal GPS. But because the sensor also knows how the boat rolls, thumps and hoists - and because specifying the size and location of the boat is part of the installation process - it can also control left-right X-axis speeds on the bow and stern determine.
You can also set the SCX to deliver 3-axis speed at the height you prefer, such as at your boat's waterline. This is very useful, for example, if you bump into a floating dock that is hard to see from the helm
The SCX-20 Satellite Compass is easy to install and effortlessly connects to existing Furuno navigation equipment and is even suitable for very small boats that need a good course. Every boat should have this satellite compass. In the past this accurate compasses were very expensive for most of us and have limitations in terms of assembly. The SCX-20 overcomes all of these barriers, comes in a compact, easy-to-assemble package, and can be configured and set up in a variety of ways.
The accuracy is absolutely amazing. Roll and pitch are spot on and the compass and heading data are good enough to aid radar imagery and other equipment. Add that you have 4x GPS sources that are constantly double-checked and you have a hyper-accurate GPS source too.
If you have a more modern Furuno radar you should really have an SCX-20. It improves the quality of the data for both the coast and the destinations so much that the investment is very worthwhile for that reason alone.
Sail360 expects that the SCX20 will eventually also be mounted on boats that are not even equipped with Furuno equipment because of the accuracy, flexible installation options and very small dimensions.
On some vessels interference occurs caused by signal blockage this occurs when a Satellite Compass receives a signal from paths other than direct line of sight, such as when the view of satellites is obscured, or when the signal is reflected off of a bulkhead, mast, or other obstruction. The multi-path phenomenon can significantly reduce the performance of Satellite Compasses and has been an ongoing issue for marine electronics installers .Because the SCX-20 has four antennas this problem is reduced to a minimum / zero.
