Product description

FLIR M364C LR Thermal Camera System

The FLIR M364C LR Thermal Camera System is built for boat owners who want longer-range thermal detection, visible HD identification and stabilized multispectral awareness in one advanced marine camera, with professional integration into compatible Furuno chartplotter and MFD systems. It combines a high-resolution 640 × 512 FLIR thermal sensor, a longer-range 25 mm thermal lens, an ultra-low-light HD visible camera, 30× optical zoom, 2-axis gyro stabilization and full pan-and-tilt control.

Within the M364 family, the M364 is the clean thermal-only choice, the M364C adds visible HD imaging and Color Thermal Vision™, and the M364C LR is the long-range multispectral option for larger, more stable platforms. It is the stronger choice when distance matters and the helm needs both thermal detection and visual confirmation from farther away.

This model can be selected in 9 Hz or 30 Hz, depending on the desired video refresh rate. Choose 9 Hz for long-range thermal awareness and controlled navigation, or 30 Hz for smoother viewing when tracking movement or using the camera actively while underway.

Within the FLIR range, the M364C LR is the focused choice for long-range thermal imaging, visible HD zoom, stabilized viewing and premium multispectral target awareness, including compatible Furuno multifunction display environments.

Long-Range Multispectral Vision That Strengthens the Helm

The M364C LR gives the helm two complementary views of the same scene. Thermal imaging detects heat signatures, vessels and obstacles in complete darkness, glare and light fog. The visible HD camera adds colour, shape, lights and fine visual detail when the operator needs clearer identification.

For compatible Furuno helm setups, the M364C LR can bring long-range multispectral FLIR video into the existing chartplotter or MFD environment, helping keep thermal viewing, visible zoom and camera control closer to the main navigation workflow.

For a closer look at the FLIR M300 Series and how these cameras support onboard visibility, you can watch Teledyne FLIR’s M300 Series overview here:

The M364C LR is especially useful for:

  • Longer-range thermal detection on larger or more stable vessels

  • Night navigation where distance, detail and confidence matter

  • Identifying vessels, navigation aids and harbour structures with thermal and visible imaging

  • Tracking targets from farther away with stabilized pan-and-tilt control

  • Inspecting distant objects with the visible camera’s 30× optical zoom

  • Adding premium multispectral video to compatible Furuno chartplotter, MFD or marine video systems

Longer-Range Thermal Optics

The main advantage of the M364C LR is its longer-range thermal lens. Compared with the standard M364C, the LR version uses a 25 mm focal length and a narrower 18° × 13.5° thermal field of view.

This narrower field of view concentrates the thermal image over a longer distance, improving detection range for vessels, targets and objects farther ahead. It is best suited to larger boats, more stable platforms and users who prioritise distance over a wider thermal scene.

For buyers who want a broader view while underway, the standard M364C remains the cleaner choice. For buyers who want more reach, the M364C LR is the stronger option.

FLIR Color Thermal Vision™ for Clearer Identification

The M364C LR features FLIR Color Thermal Vision™, which blends the thermal image with the visible camera feed. This helps the operator identify colour details such as navigation aids, vessel lights and objects within the thermal scene.

This is where the LR model becomes especially useful. It is not only built to detect farther. It also helps the helm understand what is being seen by combining thermal awareness with visible detail.

For night approaches, offshore movement, traffic monitoring and long-range inspection, this multispectral view gives the operator a more complete reading of the scene.

High-Resolution Thermal Detection

The M364C LR uses a 640 × 512 VOx microbolometer powered by the FLIR Boson thermal imaging core. This gives the helm a detailed thermal image with strong long-range detection performance for boats, buoys, structures and human-sized targets.

The thermal camera has a 25 mm focal length, 18° × 13.5° field of view, fixed focus from 12 ft / 3 m to infinity and 4× continuous digital zoom. It is built for longer-range thermal scanning in darkness, glare, light fog and demanding marine conditions.

For users who want strong thermal performance with more reach than the standard M364C, the LR version is the more capable route.

Ultra-Low-Light HD Visible Camera

The visible camera adds a 1/2.8” CMOS sensor with up to 1920 × 1080 resolution at 30 fps, 30× optical zoom and 12× digital zoom. This gives the operator a detailed visible image for identifying shapes, colours, vessel features, lights and navigation marks.

The wide-to-narrow visible field of view ranges from 63.7° × 35.8° to 2.3° × 1.29°, allowing the camera to scan broadly or zoom tightly on a selected target.

This visible camera is especially valuable when the helm needs to move from thermal detection to practical visual recognition.

2-Axis Gyro Stabilization for a Controlled View

The M364C LR uses 2-axis gyro stabilization to help reduce the effect of vessel motion on the image. This is especially important with the LR thermal lens, because longer-range viewing benefits from a steadier platform.

A stabilized image is easier to read, easier to track and more useful from the helm. With 360° continuous pan and ±90° tilt, the camera can scan around the vessel and stay focused on the area that matters.

Advanced Integration for Marine Display Systems

The M364C LR offers broad marine video integration, with analog NTSC / PAL video, HD-SDI lossless video and multiple IP video streams. This makes it suitable for advanced helm layouts, marine video systems and compatible security-style monitoring setups.

FLIR M-Series cameras are designed to integrate with compatible chartplotters and multifunction displays from brands including Furuno, Garmin, Raymarine and Simrad. For Furuno users, the key check is the selected NavNet or compatible MFD environment, including display model, software version, control support and network setup before purchase.

The M364C LR also supports Marine Video Analytics, which can recognise and highlight non-water objects such as boats, buoys or floating debris when used within a compatible setup.

Which FLIR Camera Should You Choose?

Choose the FLIR M364C LR Thermal Camera System if you want longer-range thermal detection, visible HD zoom, Color Thermal Vision™ and stabilized multispectral awareness in one camera. It is a strong fit for larger boats, more stable platforms and users who need more reach from the thermal image.

For boats already using compatible Furuno chartplotters or multifunction displays, the M364C LR is a practical way to add long-range FLIR multispectral imaging to the existing navigation display environment without choosing a separate thermal-only or visible-only camera.

Move to another FLIR model when the onboard requirement changes:

The M364C LR makes most sense when the buyer wants more distance, multispectral recognition and stabilized long-range control. It gives the helm a premium image system for detecting farther, identifying more clearly and staying better informed in demanding navigation conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions About the FLIR M364C LR Thermal Camera System

1. Where should the FLIR M364C LR be installed on a boat?
Install it high, stable and unobstructed. The LR thermal lens benefits from a clean line of sight and a steady mounting position, especially when scanning farther ahead.

2. Can the FLIR M364C LR thermal camera be mounted behind glass?
No. Thermal imaging does not work properly through glass. The M364C LR should be mounted outside with a clear view around the vessel.

3. Can I control the FLIR M364C LR from a Furuno chartplotter or MFD?
Yes, if your Furuno display system supports FLIR camera control. Check MFD compatibility, software version, network setup and video input before ordering.

4. What should I check before buying the FLIR M364C LR?
Confirm the 9 Hz or 30 Hz variant, mounting position, power supply, cable routing, video output and Furuno display control compatibility when using it within a Furuno helm system. For the LR version, also check that your vessel and mounting location are suitable for longer-range, narrower-field thermal viewing.

At Sail360, we select marine electronics for long-term value, technical reliability and real onboard usefulness, helping buyers choose equipment that fits their vessel, display system and navigation style.
