The AIRMAR B285M is a high-performance single-channel Medium-CHIRP thru-hull transducer, designed to deliver strong mid-band penetration, stable bottom tracking and clean target separation in both coastal and offshore environments. With 1 kW output and an 83–135 kHz CHIRP band, it provides significantly clearer mid-water detail and more consistent bottom returns than traditional fixed-frequency sensors. The medium-band range offers an ideal balance between depth capability and detail resolution, making it well suited for mixed-depth fishing and structure identification.
Constructed from solid bronze for long-term durability and optimal acoustic coupling, the B285M also includes a faired mounting block that minimizes turbulence and ensures a smooth water flow across the transducer face. Integrated depth and fast-response temperature sensors, combined with a 12-meter cable and 10-pin connector, provide straightforward plug-and-play compatibility with Furuno CHIRP fish finders and TZtouch systems.
The B285M features a low-profile bronze thru-hull design that provides correct beam orientation without the need to select a specific tilt-angle version. This simplifies installation while maintaining accurate depth readings and consistent CHIRP performance.

Installation documentation
Install the transducer using the fairing block to maintain clean hydrodynamic flow and ensure consistent CHIRP performance at various speeds. Avoid placing the unit near steps, strakes or any hull feature that generates turbulence. Route the cable through a watertight gland and connect directly to the 10-pin port, keeping it clear of electrical interference to maintain signal integrity.
The low-profile thru-hull housing is designed to be installed flush with the hull, providing proper acoustic alignment in the water. Correct positioning during installation is essential for accurate depth readings and optimal CHIRP performance.
