The M285HW delivers a 25° constant beam across 150–250 kHz CHIRP, offering wide, shallow-water coverage and clean targets, ideal for boats up to 11 m. Read more.
Get wider sonar coverage with Airmar’s unique M285HW, a high-frequency, Chirp-ready transducer designed for superior performance in shallow water. Operating across the 150 to 250 kHz frequency band, the M285HW features a fixed 25° beamwidth at all frequencies, providing double the coverage compared to traditional high-frequency, narrow-beam transducers. This broad beam enhances fish-target separation and delivers clearer fish arches, making it ideal for both inshore and offshore anglers. The M285HW is installed inside the hull using a plastic mounting base aligned with the boat’s centerline. After the base is filled with non-toxic antifreeze, the transducer is seated and adjusted to match the hull’s deadrise, ensuring the beam is directed straight down for accurate echo returns. The antifreeze creates an effective transmission path through solid fiberglass and into the water. This in-hull design keeps the boat’s exterior completely smooth, with no drag or protruding parts, making it an excellent option for trailered or lifted boats. The M285HW is recommended for solid-fiberglass hulls up to 11 meters (36 feet) in length.
