Ecopilot saves autopilot power by modulating valve current, cutting consumption from 30 to 5 amp-hours. Compatible with 12V or 24V systems. IP65 rated. Read more.
The Ecopilot energy-saving device was developed to address the growing need for electrical efficiency on sailing yachts. Electrical power onboard is often limited, yet vital for the continuous operation of key systems such as the autopilot. Ecopilot optimizes energy consumption by managing the electro-valve that activates the autopilot system. Typically, the electro-valve represents a significant portion of the autopilot’s overall power usage. Ecopilot works by allowing a brief surge of current to engage the valve and then immediately reducing the current to a lower level that is still sufficient to keep the valve open. This intelligent current modulation leads to dramatic energy savings. Daily power consumption by the electro-valve is reduced from approximately 30 amp-hours to only 5 amp-hours, significantly extending the available power reserves onboard without compromising autopilot performance.
