A CHIRP transducer provides you with easy to interpret detailed images of soil and structure from the ground. Most fish finders work with one frequency, which means that when you increase the sensitivity of the transducer, you also get more noise on the screen. Fish is then more difficult to separate from background noise. If you subsequently reduce the sensitivity, you risk missing fish in the water column. CHIRP works with multiple frequencies simultaneously, so the echoes on the screen are much clearer. In practice, this means a sharper image with a particularly high distinctive character through a considerable improvement of the signal.
